as soon as possible.
Let’s quickly recap what this momentous coaching series is all about.

What is it?

It is a three-event coaching series, where 32 surfers will be coached on the four pillars of advanced surfing, being physical, mental, equipment and surf. The surfers will be coached by the likes of Bruce Jackson and Jason Ribbink as well as other guest coaches. There will only be two divisions, U13 and U16, and it is open to both boys and girls.

When is it?
The dates for the coaching series events are set. They are:

23/24 January 2016
27/28 February 2016
19/20 March 2016.

Who is in it?
Anyone can be a part of the coaching series. To be a part of the coaching series, surfers need to be in the right age groups (U13 and U16) and enter their names via email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Surfers also need to motivate their entry with past achievements, and anything else that will possibly attract the attention of the selectors by no later than 11 January 2016. Thereafter there will be a selection process, and successful candidates will be notified by 18 January 2016.

Why is it happening?
This coaching series is happening in order to identify, develop and nurture emerging junior surfing talent in South Africa. In accordance with this ideology, the four finalists of each division of the coaching series will then be invited to participate in a free two-week HPSA coaching course valued at R12k per participant, that will take place on a date yet to be determined in Durban.

Where is it happening?
The coaching series will take place at New Pier as well as at Durban Surf Lifesaving Club.

How much is it going to cost?
The 3-part coaching series will cost R1,000 to the selected 32 surfers, and the two-week HPSA coaching course will be free to the eight surfers selected.
