Ben Knoetze in practice for Trials - Pic by May Knoetze
King Cetshwayo Surfriders have set a date of Sunday 3 March for a fun surfing competition and trials to choose KCS team riders.
The association is hoping for a well attended, family orientated beach event! Surfers of all ages and skill levels are invited to enter, and are encouraged to bring their ‘peeps, homies, crew’ to make our presence known on the beach. Let’s promote the stoke of surfing, cheer each other on and up our skills for the upcoming national events. This event is perfect for anyone who is interested in surfing or has kids that are interested to come along, get involved and get any questions answered.
Your entry needs to be received on or before Friday 1 March 2019 to make sure you can participate on the day. The King Cetshwayo committee will assess entries and age categories to establish if we have the numbers to represent our district at the following National events:
- Grom Games 21-24 March - Port Elizabeth
What is the Grom Games? Well it's a family friendly and fun and it's for kids U/8 to U/16 Boys and Girls. By simple definition, "the Grom Games serves as a springboard, a starting block to becoming a world-class competitive surfer.
- South African Champs - 15-18 August - Nahoon Reef, East London
Regional Teams in Open Mens, Open Women, U/18 Boys and U/18 Girls as well as Masters age divisions
- SA Junior Champs - 24-29 September - Lower Point, Jeffreys Bay
U/12 - U/18 Boys and Girls who have qualified as not being a grommet (having surfed grom games twice)
King Cetshwayo Surfriders is planning on sending teams to these events. Don’t count yourself out, whatever your skill level or age… bring it to the beach on Sunday 3 March.
